It was a winning start as the Emma C. Attales Middle School Crusaders’ fall sports season got underway this week.

The Field Hockey team scored its first win over Ventnor on Tuesday, Sept. 27 with a 2-0 victory.

The Crusaders’ first goal was scored by Emily Frugoli, assisted by Jaydn Clinkscale. The second goal was scored by Jadyn Clinkscale. Goalie Ava Cooper recorded her first shutout of the season.

Meanwhile, Attales’ Boys and Girls Cross Country teams began their seasons taking on St. Joseph's Regional School.

The Girls Cross Country team returned from Somers Point with a compelling win, placing five girls in the top eight places led by Grace Marczyk winning the race in the time of 10:40. Jadyn Clinkscale finished in 2nd place, Rose Marczyk came in 4th, followed by Sanaya Madera in 5th, and Carol Hargrove in 8th.

The Boys Cross Country team did not win the meet, but put forth a strong effort with Evan Ragazzi, Achille Andre, and Ahmed Choudhry all finishing in the top 10.

On Thursday, Sept. 29, both Cross Country teams faced Assumption Regional at home.

The girls team raced to another victory with seven runners in the top nine spots. Once again, the girls were led by Grace Marczyk with the winning time of 10:46. Jadyn Clinkscale finished 2nd, Rose Marczyk came in 4th, Carol Hargrove 5th, Olivia Ragazzi 6th, Sanaya Madera 7th, and Quinn Egizi 9th.

Despite Evan Ragazzi’s win in the time of 10:26 and a solid performance by Achille Andre, the boys fell to Assumption.

Be sure to come out and support our Crusaders in their next matchups.
