Marsh Superintendents Awards recipient 2023

Third and Fourth Grade students from H. A. Marsh Elementary School were recognized Thursday, June 8 before their family, teachers and peers for academic, social and emotional, artistic and athletic successes during the annual Marsh Awards Ceremony.

Fourth Grade Awards

Amazing Artist Award (Mrs. Martin) Certificate 
The Amazing Artist Award goes to the students who have shown significant improvement from the beginning to the end of the 2022-2023 school year. These students not only have a good attitude toward learning the arts, but also have received a grade of “Outstanding” in the subject matter, visual and performing arts, by participation, respect, being ready to answer questions,following the rules, and producing projects.

Sportsmanship Award (Mr. Scholder) Certificate 
The Sportsmanship Award is given to a student who embodies the characteristics of a good sport during the 2022-2023 school year. They demonstrate respect, kindness, and empathy. They give their best effort 100% of the time. They win and lose with dignity. Lastly, this student exhibits both a love for movement and for the others in his/her class.

Reading Rockstar Award (Mrs. Mondragon) Certificate/Medal 
The Reading Rockstar Award recognizes three students from each homeroom who have excelled in the area of reading throughout the course of the 2022–2023 school year. These students have increased their reading stamina, developed comprehension skills and become reading rockstars.

Math Achievement Award (Mrs. Clevenger) Certificate/Medal 
The Math Achievement Award is presented to three students from each homeroom who have excelled in mathematics in the 2022-2023 school year. These students worked hard to embrace the math program and rose to the challenges presented along the way. The students recognized today have surpassed expectations, gained knowledge and sharpened their mathematical skills.

These students came to choir putting their best foot forward every day of the 2022-2023 school year! These students may have been a little shy or quiet in the beginning, but in the end, their voices truly shined.

Choir Leadership Award (Ms. Castillo) Certificate 
These students had nearly perfect attendance and arrived on time to our very early morning rehearsal during the 2022-2023 school year. They had a positive attitude toward choir no matter what and showed leadership qualities on the stage. These students represent what it means to be in choir.

Jayson Carranza Award (Mrs. Nastasi) Certificate/Check
Jayson Carranza was a Fourth Grade student who had an incredible sense of family - both biological and his school “family.” Jayson was always ready to help others, students and teachers alike. He was just that kind of boy. He had a unique sense of selflessness and always put others first, willing to lend a hand wherever and however needed. Jayson loved to read and write non-fiction. Jayson always gave an A+ effort in school. Jayson will always be remembered for his sense of family,selflessness and willingness to help others.

Superintendents Leadership Award (Dr. Dooley) Certificate/Pin
The Superintendent's Leadership award goes to a fourth grade student who exhibits leadership qualities and that leads by example.
This year's recipient has integrity inside and outside the classroom. She exhibits empathy towards everyone by offering kind words or a helping hand.  She is described by her classroom teacher, Mrs. Clevenger , as someone that you can depend on, she is in charge of herself. She sets goals, works hard and goes beyond them. Not only does she focus on becoming the best self that she can be, she continually thinks of others and radiates kindness. When things get difficult she remains positive and makes adjustments. Her attitude makes everyone around her feel comfortable and inspired.

Agenda Book Cover Contest (Mrs. Martin) Certificate
All students in second and third grade this year, designed a cover for next year's agenda book cover. Those that fit the criteria are anonymously displayed at a staff meeting. The staff votes for the best cover for the rising third and rising fourth grade books. 
This year the second grade student whose art will be featured on the cover of the third grade agenda book is Isla E.

This year the third grade student whose art will be featured on the cover of the fourth grade agenda book is Emmaline W.

Jimmy Murphy Award (Mrs. Mason) Certificate/Pin
The Jimmy Murphy award is presented to the third grade student who exemplifies the positive characteristics for which Jimmy stood for.  Jimmy was a Marsh student who was entering the fourth grade, when he lost his battle to leukemia.  Jimmy is remembered as a caring student who never complained or excused himself from responsibility even when he was feeling his worse.  We remember his positive attitude towards learning and life, his conscientious effort to achieve and the joy he brought to both his classmates and teachers.  

This year the recipient of the Jimmy Murphy Award is Valarie W.
